Puma to Host Breast Cancer Awareness Meet

The Puma Aquatics swim team will host the fourth annual Breast Cancer Awareness swim meet this weekend at Arroyo Grande High School.

The meet will start on Saturday, October 29, and will conclude Sunday, October 30. On both days, the competition is slated to begin at 10:00 AM. The pool will be open for warmup at about 9:00 AM on both Saturday and Sunday.

Donations will be made to the Hearst Cancer Resource Center at French Hospital, which offers free support and services to all cancer patients. French Hospital is donating five dollars for every swim in the meet, and secondary sponsorships are also accepted. Over the last three years, the meet has raised over $30,000 for the Hearst Resource Center.

The team that wins the meet will be awarded the Coastal Cup. Puma has claimed the Coastal Cup at both of the previous Breast Cancer Awareness Meets.

There are expected to be more than 300 swimmers competing in the meet.

Age divisions for the meet are as follows: 5-8, 5-10, 11-12, and 13 and Up. There will also be two Open events: the 500 freestyle (Saturday) and 400 IM (Sunday).

There will also be a 200 medley relay on Saturday and a 200 freestyle relay on Sunday.
