Cuesta Wraps up Season at CCCAA Championship Meet

The Cuesta College Swimming and Diving teams swam at the California Community College Athletic Association championship meet this past weekend that East Los Angeles College.

The men’s team placed ninth while the women took fourteenth.

Matt Giancanelli placed seventh in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1 minute, 42.81 seconds. He also took sixth in the 100 freestyle after putting up a 47.04.

Zac Taapken was a finalist in the 200 individual medley. He recorded a time of 1:57.44 to take eighth. He also placed ninth in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes (58.90 and 2:09.69).

Jackson Petty took 12th in the 50 and 100 freestyles with times of 21.84 and 47.36, respectively.

Cuesta placed in the top eight four of the five relays. Their highest placing was third in the 400 freestyle relay after they put up a time of 3:05.29.

On the women’s side, the top point scorer for Cuesta was diver Kristen Brimage. She won the 1-meter event with a score of 216 points, and placed fifth in the 3-meter event with 196.75 points.

Erin Hasenkamp took eleventh in the 50 backstroke (29.48) and sixteenth in the 100 backstroke.

Shelby Romuk finished the 200 individual medley in 2:18.69 and earned thirteenth place. She also got fifteenth in the 100 butterfly with a 1:01.57.

Ally Bernard placed eleventh in the 50 freestyle (25.25).

The women placed in the consolation finals heat in all five relays.
